Caesar
Hey guys, Christmas went good. Sara left me with her mom for a whole week and I really didn't like it much. I got comfortable with her though after a few days. I got some bad news though, my forever home fell through. Mom says that if no one else steps up she is going to keep me forever! I like the sound of that because I really love my Sara. I go to the vet January 2nd and I'll know how my heart worm stuff is going then. I hope everyone stays safe!!

Caesar again!
Hey, I know it has been to long, mom (Sara) has been so busy with keeping me calm on heart worm treatments and working and going to school so she hasn't been able to get on here a lot. I have a forever home lined up as soon as I am heart worm free! Isn't that so cool?! I'm not sure how I am going to feel though without mom around. This past weekend she left me with her mom and I was really sad. I think I will adjust though! I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and Happy Holidays. I am really liking the presents under the tree. And mom got me a santa outfit... I'm not sure how I like it though... any way it's late gotta go!
Woof, love

Caesar here!!
Hi guys! I just wanted to check in and give you guys a little insight on me! I'm sure Sara has told you, but just in case you haven't heard I am AWESOME! I really love being on this big comfy bed (I think sara said a couch) and I love being around Sara and her mom. These ladies are great!! They talk to me like I am a big baby (I am) and they give me treats when I sit! They let me go outside and I get to watch these HUGE dog looking weird things run around and they make this crazy sound when they bark.. I think mom said they're horses and that I need to be careful of their feet.. Don't know what that is about.. Any ways, mom says even though no one gets left behind in her family that I have to find a forever home soon.. she says I am going to the V-E-T in a week and that after that my perfect family is going to come for me. So I guess I should tell you guys what I want in a family. I'm 1 year old but I am out of my puppy stages. I LOVE being with my people, but new people do make my nervous. I wasn't around a lot of people when I was young because my old people didn't love me. I like other dogs but I really like to just lay around. So if you have another lazy dog like me I'm sure after we got to know each other we would be best friends just laying around on the couch and our doggy beds, if you don't have another dog I'm okay with that too as long as I won't be alone all the time. It kind of scares me when people leave me alone because I don't know if they are ever coming back. I don't like cats, they say bad things about me behind my back :( I really love my Iams healthy natural food but the only treats I like are the peanut butter kind sara makes :) If there is anything else you need to know let me know!! Sara says email her if you want to adopt sebing.sb@gmail.com WOOF-- Thanks again!! Caesar!

Caesar (Available soon)
Caesar was found through Facebook. A nice lady had posted that a sweet guy needed saving. Sara called and got the information. She discovered he was chained in the neighbor's yard. They had "...found him two months ago behind an abandoned house." She said for the first few weeks they took him on walks everyday and played with him and cared for him. Then one day she noticed they didn't walk him, then they didn't feed him or check on his water. That evening she went over and there was no food bowl and a bone dry water bowl. She took him food and water and vowed to keep watching him. For a while she continued feeding and watering him and listening to him cry at night. She finally asked what they were going to do and over time she discovered they had wanted to breed him to the female they have inside but then decided not to do it. They told her they no longer wanted him and that she could find him a home or he would go to the pound. That is why he was posted on Facebook. Sara went the next Saturday and met him and brought him home. He is staying with her while we try to find a forever home or a rescue that can take him. He needs to be taken to the vet so that we know he does not have anything medically wrong. He is a good boy despite being left on a chain and not being shown love. He is learning basic commands such and 'sit' and 'down' as well as being crate trained. he has decent leash manners. He does need help meeting new people, especially men, we do not believe he was abused, but we are pretty sure the only contact he has had with humans within the past month is being scolded. (other than his angel of a neighbor feeding him) He has been in the house with Sara over night and had one small accident because she couldn't get him outside quick enough. He LOVES being a couch potato and would really like a family where he can lay on the couch with his people and watch TV all day. He is good with other dogs but he is a little dominant, he chases cats so no kitties. He would be okay with older children but loud noises still frighten him. We are also looking for donations to help us get him to the vet. You can donate directly to the vet, Trenton Animal Clinic, by calling 731-855-9081 and tell them you would like to donate by debit or credit card to Sara Bing's account. (100% of donations go towards his vetting) or you may donate through chipin at http://humanehearts.chipin.com/caesar-the-staffordshire-terriers-vetting If you are interested in adopting please email sebing.sb@gmail.com for an application.

Humane Facelift!
Due to some things changing in the home life, Humane Helpers' page is getting a facelift! We are also getting started on the paperwork to become a Tennessee Charted Non-profit (like a 501(c)(3) but for smaller groups to start on). Just to let everyone know what is changing (for the good) I recommend you read the about me. If you want more detail please just comment and ask! I am working on getting the donate button back. The biggest change that I have time to talk about is the name has a new part, we are starting up a grant to help local shelters, have a spay/neuter help fund, and other vet care help for the community so we add more to our name. It is now Humane Helpers' Helping Hearts (whew what a mouth full lol). Thanks for keeping up with us!

Shelter update! 09/17/2012
Hmm, today I have so many things to say I'm not sure how to start.. I guess I should say this, after a week of chasing a beautiful husky all around Halls and Gates he has finally been caught safely! He is waiting for us to hear from the rescue in Memphis so we know if and when they can take him to rehabilitate him. The next big thing is WE GOT A BID on getting the concrete poured and laid out for new outdoor kennels on the hill :) YAY! Bad news is we still need 20 PLASTIC dog houses. We are also going to have to wait to buy kennels before the new pens will be ready for housing dogs. But we are very glad that we will be able to house more animals outside where they can be healthy and in larger pens :) I'll post photos once the construction begins so everyone can stay posted :)

Just dog-gone crazy!
Humane Helpers started out as two students and an FFA Advisors crazy idea to start helping our local animal shelter. We created a Facebook page, which can be seen at www.facebook.com/humane.helper.9. I post photos of the animals at our shelter and spread them over Facebook for everyone to see, in hopes that someone will fall in love and go to the shelter to adopt them. I have graduated now and I am pretty much struggling to keep up (no nice way to put it). But I am creating this blog for people to follow and see how it all works. I am now setting up a Paypal account to start sponsoring pets at our shelter (The Lauderdale County Animal Shelter) in hopes that this will increase out adoptions and save the lives of many animals. The plan for any money donated is for it to be used to make animals more adoptable by offering 50% or more off of their spay/neuter surgery and their first vet visit, as long as the vet sees them within a week of the adoption.
Much love from the pets, staff, and volunteers at Lauderdale Co. Animal Shelter (LCAS)
